Les differents projets proposes par l organisme CSM seront pour vous une opportunite d echanger autours de vos experiences interculturelles et de participer a la construction d un monde de paix et de comprehension mutuelle. Cette ONG travaille avec de nombreuses associations locales pour vous permettre de participer a differents projets sociaux.

TRAVAIL

Le centre Lalla Meryem fait partie de la Ligue Marocaine pour la protection de l enfance. Il accueille des orphelins depuis leur naissance jusqu a l age de 6 ans ainsi que des enfants abandonnes trouves dans la rue. Le centre est ensuite charge de leur trouver une famille d accueil. Le centre peut accueillir jusqu a 200 enfants. Aujourd hui il en accueille 123 dont 50 sont handicapes (trisomie 21, handicaps moteurs – certains sont en fauteuils roulants -, handicaps mentaux comme l autisme). Des travailleurs sociaux specialises, des infirmieres et des docteurs travaillant au centre assurent le suivi medical et social des enfants. Les orphelins commencent leur education scolaire a partir de 3 ans dans les ecoles privees et publiques de Rabat. En tant que volontaire, vous aiderez les travailleurs sociaux dans les taches quotidiennes du centre : prendre les douches, preparer les repas, nourrir les bebes, emmener les enfants en balade, organiser des activites en exterieur. Vous pourrez egalement aider l equipe du centre dans le suivi des procedures d adoption et l organisation des circoncisions. Une approche flexible du travail est necessaire, vous devez etre pret a realiser des taches multiples.

LOGEMENT & NOURRITURE

Vous serez loges et nourris en famille d accueil. Vous aurez ainsi la chance de decouvrir le mode de vie d une famille locale qui pourra aussi vous faire rencontrer du monde et vous partager ses habitudes. Il est attendu de vous une participation aux taches menageres, a la preparation des repas, a la vaisselle et a l occupation des enfants. Le projet est base a Rabat, vous pourrez donc y acceder par taxi, tram ou train a la charge du volontaire.

Rabat est la capitale et la quatrieme plus grande ville du Maroc avec une population urbaine d environ 580 000 habitants. Rabat presente une influence mediterraneenne et oceanique. Situee le long de l ocean Atlantique, Rabat a un climat doux et tempere, passant de la fra.cheur en hiver a des journees chaudes pendant les mois d ete. Rabat est une ville culturelle chargee d histoire : vous pourrez decouvrir les nombreux chefs-d oeuvre qui decorent ses rues et ses places. Vous decouvrirez la Kasbah des Oudayas, les murs anciens du Chellah et les vestiges antiques. VIN s Children s Life Skills Facilitation Clubs provide a platform for children to develop their life skills and explore their talents. Over the last five years the children s clubs have organised camps and provided children s life-skills and sanitation training and creative classes, such as writing and street drama. The clubs also organise extracurricular activities and inter-school competitions. Together, volunteers and the clubs can arrange life skill activities.Your role- Create workshops that deal with leadership training, life skills and other ways to empower kids.- Organize creative activities oriented around such tasks as contemporary dance and/ or formal debate on issues such as promoting/protecting human rights.

LOGEMENT & NOURRITURE

Volunteers stay with the host family/hostel identified by VIN. The living conditions at the host family/ hostel are simple and basic. Male and female volunteers will share the same living area but have separate sleeping rooms. The volunteers sleep on simple beds/mattresses. Please bring your sleeping bag. The food will be provided in Nepali standard i.e. dal Bhat (rice, lentil soup, vegetables, pickle, eggs).

SITUATION

VIN works in three different districts Kathmandu, Nuwakot, and Okhaldhunga are the three districts where VIN works. If you arrive early or wish to stay in Nepal after your volunteer period, VIN offers weekend travel tours to Chitwan Jungle Safari, Pokhara, and Nagarkot at reasonable prices.

Project backgroundNyabosongo Bena Academy was started in 2005 with 23 students as a pre-school. The School currently has a population of 346 pupils; 149 girls and 197 boys and 147 for the pre-school. There are 12 teachers in total. The School has 8 classrooms and the most of the facilities are still under construction. The school is run by a Parents Teachers Association and the teachers are registered by the Teachers Service Commission. The establishment of the School is a major milestone thanks to the efforts of Mr. John Magesi Chacha, its founder who died on 6th October 2013 but left a sound legacy for posterity having himself been actively involved in KVDA as a volunteer and Board member since the 1970s. His legacy flourishes through volunteering that was his passion with spectacular influence in the larger Kuria region of Kenya.There is no doubt that the institution will enhance sustainable development within the community whose struggles are emboldened by the need to ensure access to basic education, urgent need to address the grave issues of alcohol, drug and substance abuse, girl child education, repugnant cultural practices like FGM and early pregnancy for teenage girls.The inception of NYABOSONGO BENA ACADEMY came in handy with the many challenges that affect the community. Their struggles are emboldened by the need to ensure access to education by the majority people from the community, arrest the grave issue of alcohol, drug and substance abuse, the obtaining realities on climate change, repugnant cultural practices like FGM and early pregnancy for teenage girls.The majority of the local people are small scale farmers sustaining livelihoods on subsistence agriculture. Cette association a pour but de favoriser la convalescence des enfants dans les hopitaux, en leur offrant un environnement sain et un support psychologique. Hiiumaa according to the Nordic sagas emerged from the Baltic Sea as a small islet more than 10 000 years ago. The island of Hiiumaa was first mentioned in historical documents as a deserted island called Dageida in 1228. The first inhabitants settled down at the end of the 13th century. Nowadays Hiiumaa is the second biggest island of Estonia with the area of 965 sq. km and the population around 10 000. It has many historical and nature sights, and there are kind people known for their hospitality and good sense of humor. The island is referred as a remote area of Europe, so EstYES feels particularly proud developing international voluntary projects for 20 years there. Also, for years EstYES has been cooperating with farms all over Estonia for solidarity, respect and practical support to local people who work in agricultural sector keeping traditional life style and developing new eco-farming despite of all difficulties. Lepaniidi Farm on Hiiumaa Island is one of such projects. This is an organic farm promoting sustainable lifestyle, and camp is proposed for volunteers who appreciate and share its values, want to learn more about it and to help hard working people.

TRAVAIL

Lepaniidi Farm has currently about 150 sheep for producing meet and wool, 40 goats 20 of whom are for milk and goat cheese production. Volunteers will be helping grazing, feeding, milking the goats, processing the milk, but also picking berries and vegetables. So, in the mornings there will be goats milking, at days – picking the berries and fruits (strawberries, raspberries and blackcurrant) and making a jam/juice or there will be work in vegetable garden, removing weeds, picking vegetables, etc. During the autumn shift volunteers will be mainly picking up and sorting vegetables (potatoes, carrots, beetroots), milking goats and making cheese. Participants will have a great chance to get familiar with various farm jobs and even to learn how to make goat cheese Inside of the house it would be grat to give some hand too etc. cooking and cleaning around.The working day will be 6-7 hours, 5-6 days a week (NB: milking is every day). Work will be supervised by local hosts with whom volunteers will stay sharing work and leisure as a family.

LOGEMENT & NOURRITURE

The accommodation conditions at the farm will be simple – in old sauna house or caravan, however on beds. Please bring your sleeping bag. Toilets and showers are available in the main house; there is also traditional Estonian sauna in the farm. There is a kitchen with necessary equipment for cooking, which volunteers may use freely i just like at home. Usually volunteers will have breakfasts and lunch together with farmers cooked and served by the hosts, but you always can help with cooking. Dinners will be prepared by volunteers.

Hosts plan to arrange some tours around the island.This camp is absolutely suitable for people who enjoy nature and interested in traditional ways of rural living.

Special requirementsMotivation letter is required. You have to be ready to adapt to the simple conditions of the common life in the country side of Estonia and be willing to do farm work, which can be hard sometimes. Not suitable for lactose allergic participants since host offers a lot of dairy products. The host eats a lot of meat products too, but volunteers can always cook for themselves. Smoking and drinking alcohol is not allowed in this camp. Volunteers have the chance to work in orphanage, by supporting the staff in the project with the daily care of orphan children. The work is varied and requires the volunteers to be flexible in tracking multitasking.The work cloud involve: Rehabilitation, education and supporting the orphan children to return and participate within mainstream life. L Association Marocaine pour la Sauvegarde des Enfants non-Integres (AMSEI) a ouvert un centre a Rabat appele Al Basma qui accueille les jeunes de 4 a 20 ans pendant la journee. Il leur propose des activites et prend en charge leurs besoins medicaux. L AMSEI a aussi mis en place des classes integrees en partenariat avec les ecoles publiques pendant lesquelles elle peut apporter un soutien individuel aux jeunes qui sont en mesure de suivre des cours reguliers. Les activites concretes de l association sont l organisation d activites educatives, sportives, artistiques, manuelles et culturelles avec les enfants; la realisation des conseils de vie et des rendez-vous reguliers avec les familles pour orienter les enfants vers des activites adaptees ; l apport d un soutien et d un suivi medical aux enfants. Les jeunes sont repartis en 4 groupes selon leur age (4-7 ans, 8-11 ans, 12-16 ans, 17-20 ans) pour leur proposer des activites adaptees. Le groupe des plus jeunes aborde des thematiques telles que le developpement personnel, la socialisation et l integration scolaire, tandis que le groupe des plus ages s interesse davantage aux questions du developpement d activites lucratives et d integration socio-professionnelle. Project backgroundThe health facility is built on 4 acres plot was initiated during the colonial era in 1940s by the community with the aim of enabling the local people to have access to medication. The health center has the capacity to cater for 700 patients on a daily basis and it has 5 medical staff members including two casual workers. There is a building housing the main hospital and currently the maternity wing is under construction plus two staff houses. The health institution also offers an opportunity where the community members come together to enhance the process of implementation of community development activities and thus champion the common cause that is to improve the living standards of the local community members. Poverty levels are extremely high in the community with the majority of the people reliant on subsistence agriculture.Due to poor farming techniques and the effects of harsh weather conditions, environmental degradation has been a major challenge with the resultant diseases like malnutrition afflicting the Children.Project activitiesThe facility offers health services to the local community members

This project will be carried out in cooperation with a non-profit organization that brings together different professionals, to contribute to change by small solidarity actions. They help the most vulnerable communities by carrying out medical missions, attending the needs of children between the ages of 0 and 12 and the elderly.In addition, they provide training and support in different projects to teenage mothers, single mums and mothers who are heads of families. They also support projects aimed at this continuous improvement in the quality of our habitat.

TRAVAIL

In general, volunteers help organize and develop the different activities of the foundation, which includes support before, during and after the medical missions.The work includes:- Office work- Organizing medicine and inventory.- Folding clothes- Helping organize and sort out donations.- Managing social media of the organization.- Joining the medical missions.For some missions the volunteer has to pay the airplane tickets, it depends on the geographical area where the mission is carried out. (e.g. a medical mission in the Amazonas). There are some other tasks as well at other foundations 2x every month. – Cleanup an animal shelter and bathe cats and dogs.- Cleaning at an old people s home and playing games, karaoke and sports with the elderly.- Taking care of babies / playing with children between 2 and 6 years old at a foundation of adolescent and single mothers, while they attend some lessons. According to the volunteers profile the foundation will try to assign tasks and activities.

Himachal Pradesh is a mountainous area where people are highly dependent on agriculture to complement their living in addition to their daily work. However, due to shortage of water and small terraces on sloppy land the agriculture is unsustainable and farm output is not sufficient keeping in mind economic value it gets. Also due to steep terrain and small terraces automated machines have limited usage here. As a result we fear food security in the future as many people are or about to leave agriculture.RUCHI campus is spread over an area of 3 hectares and has good fertile soil. We at present are using our campus for exploring options of pesticide free scientific farming using natural materials. We have successfully demonstrated, Wormicompost, NADEP compost, Kitchen Gardening, Agroforestry, floriculture, organic farming, orchard development here. With this initiative we aim to educate and train farmers in nearby communities by acting as a resource and demonstration centre for sharing good practices among farmers. Our focus is to encourage farmers to reduce usage of chemical fertilizers and still increase their agriculture income and amp; output. Below are the few tasks which could be undertaken by volunteers to assist us:Assist our agriculture team in daily maintenance of farm and produce pesticide and chemical free products.Actively assist our team to realise our dream to be self sufficient by producing majority of fruits, vegetable that we consume.Introduce or reinforce good farming practices and grow off season and les water consuming vegetable.Assist in networking of farmers so they can connect and share technical know how.

SITUATION

The project site is Ruchi campus and the nearby Bandh village (1 km) in Solan district. It is 30 km from Kalka and 70 km from Chandigarh. The village is small with 35 families.Self organized city tours and excursions. Old Sikh and Hindu temples in the near vicinity can be visited. Nearby Kasauli town is another hill station as a tourist attraction. A visit to Shimla will offer an opportunity to see high Himalayan Mountains.

TRAVAIL

There are several ethnic minorities in India who faces several issues like lack of proper education, infrastructure and medical facilities along with isolation due to the inferior nature of living, illiteracy of parents and lack of livelihood development. Various NGOs are working towards to community development of these participate and complete within the mainstream society. Working in this files requires a high degree of flexibility, and volunteers should try and get involved with local community and with the staff of the project. These projects with the tribal communities are located in rural and remote areas, near to or within the communities and since you will be working with theme, therefore it is important that you are prepared for bare minimum and simple living conditions. Strong language barrier could also pose a greater challenge for anyone working in this field Most of the development work carried out by NGOs is aimed at community development through education, awareness, livelihood promotion and health improvement. Volunteers will be required to teach in most of the projects where they will work with tribal children. Therefore an interest in teaching and love for children is crucial. However, you could also be supporting the staff in the daily activities if the centre, whilst the children are away attending Regular schools.A creative approach to work is useful and you will have the opportunity to initiate new mini projects or activities. You will have to be prepared for a flexible approach to the work and be wiling to undertake a variety of tasks.
