This project is actively working for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), organized together with Green Volunteers for Green Future (GV4GF) since 2012 (since 2017 in this place). Higurakgoda is a settlement, established in 1956, under the government development plan. Families were brought here from different parts of Sri Lanka and asked to settle here while doing paddy farming. Different parts of Sri Lanka have different kinds of subcultures. In here all of them are mixed and emerge a new subculture. Now 3rd generation is living here with their 2nd generation parents. During the 21st century, technology has changed rapidly but it has not reached these areas because of language barriers, unawareness, narrow perspectives, and so on. As a country, everyone should be a part of the countrys development process but unfortunately, these rural communities are somehow rejected by the administration. But actually, communities active participation is essential to overcome the burdens and to establish a just society. Some families are doing other activities to live. Making bags, packing spices, and maintaining plant nurseries are among them. We are working closely with paddy farmers as well as other families who have no land to do agriculture.

TRAVAIL

Basically, our projects consist of two parts. First three days we worked at the one place that is our main work, helping a family to do their work in the nursery. Mixing soil and composts, filling the bags, cutting flowers, and planting the branches are among the main work.Second four days, we moved around the village to meet the community to do our next part of the project. During this week you can meet a family, youth/children society members and watch their activities, womens/farmers groups, visit village school, etc. Among work scheduled volunteers participating, 1. Help to family to do their work in nurseries 2. Cultural exchange programs with villagers including youths. 3. Activities with children 4. Work and assist with self-help group members activities 5. Visit village kindergarten

This project is actively working for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), organized together with the local group since 2019. This village has been welcoming Ohenro (pilgrims) who visit 88 temples in Shikoku since long time ago. The pilgrims walk through this village before visiting Kakurin-ji temple; the 20th temple out of 88 temples of the Shikoku Ohenro Pilgrimage. However, there are problems which should be solved such as aging and depopulation of the community these days, and locals haven t been able to find solutions for those problems. On the other hand, since more and more people from overseas visit for the Shikoku Ohenro Pilgrimage locals are trying to find new ways for omotenashi (hospitality). Volunteers who have been working on the project have come up with ideas for the reuse of vacant and abandoned land. Local host Oi have finally decided that they can freely renovate and modify the vacant houses. Moreover, the site is in a good location, with mountains, a river and fields. It is up to the volunteers from now on to decide how to develop the project. The aim is for the volunteer members to clean up the abandoned houses and village landscape and transform it into a village that people will want to visit to take photos, as it used to be a village where people came and went since ancient times.

PARTENAIRE

Worldwide Friends (WF), was founded in 2001 as a non-profit organization promoting nature and peace-oriented activities for volunteers wanting to spend some time in Iceland. Our main theme for this year is to give education about the 17 Sustainable Goals of the United Nations and to clean the whole coastline of Iceland. The main activities that we offer are workcamps, seminars, local events, and exchange programs suitable both for young people and adults.

TRAVAIL

The heart of the SElheimar ideology is to give all individuals a fair chance and to maximize their potential. By focusing on individuals possibility instead of their limitations, SElheimar aims to create the space for each resident to take every opportunity that arises for each person to grow and develop. Versatility is the strength of SElheimar so people with special needs that reside here will always be the center of the community. This works through the idea of reverse integration: those without special needs adapt to the abilities of those who do, they can work together to make their community of an equal and sustainable one. The foundation of the ideology of SElheimar derives from the visions and lifework of Sesselja herself. The main work in this camp will be in forestry called Eilur and also in the greenhouses which are called Sunna. Volunteers will be working in the greenhouses planting and harvesting vegetables, doing weed control and sometimes you will also be gardening. The work might involve work around the property painting or fixing things. During the winter volunteers will also have to help remove snow and keep the walk paths clear for the residents.Working hours are 09.00 to 16.00 with one hour break for lunch and there are some coffee breaks as well. Our work will depend on weather conditions, which is why we must be flexible. You should be prepared for unfriendly weather, as they say: if you dont like the Icelandic weather, just wait 5 minutes it might change. It is a community where people with or without special needs live and work together. SElheimar is a pioneer of practicing organic farming. In SElheimar there is an organically certified greenhouse, forestry, and arboretum. Other environmental-friendly projects in SElheimar include geothermal energy and recycling.

LOGEMENT & NOURRITURE

Wireless internet access is provided free of charge.Food is included for the duration of the work camp; however, everyone is expected to do their fair share of the cooking and cleaning. We provide a well-balanced and healthy variety of food products that includes a wide variety of whole grains, seasonal fruits and amp; vegetables, pantry staples, and dairy products. We try to reduce our carbon footprint on the planet by cutting down our meat intake and we usually encourage volunteers to try more sustainable foods.

It can be a presentation, a game, theatre ( the form of introduction is up to you Therefore, we encourage you to bring along some food, photos, or anything interesting related to your country for a fun and informative evening amongst other volunteers. WF Iceland will organize reasonably-priced weekend excursions to some of the most popular, beautiful areas and natural wonders that Iceland has to offer. Excursions include unique Icelandic sights, such as waterfalls, volcanic and geothermal areas, glaciers, lava forests, hot springs, rhyolite mountain ranges, steam vents, or even icebergs. Golden Circle is Included in the camp feeThis workcamp gives you the opportunity to spend an amazing time in Iceland with other international volunteers and to have an incredible experience where participants share their knowledge with each other while exploring creativity, environmental issues, and intercultural learning. The area around the house is also great for hiking. This project is actively working for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), organized together with a group of farmers since 1995. The project has been held mostly in March and this is the 3rd time to be held in the summer since 2019. The project started by the links with the President of NICE who had a farm stay here in his student days. The island has rich, beautiful sub tropical nature with corral leaf on the beach without being polluted by the tourism. As the location is isolated and very far from the cities, they can hardly get the paid workers to help their farm work, so vols. help it to protect their industry and life Thus, the volunteers can learn a lot from the natural and local life, by that many of them become a big fan of the islandOutcome of this workcamp: Workcamps have greatly contributed to the farmers (not to waste the flowers due to lack of working power) in 2023 by 3 workcamps with 10 vols.

TRAVAIL

The volunteers will be spilt into 3 farms (without change in the whole period) and mainly help to harvest the flowers and other farm work such as selection and rapping of flowers. Farm work will be 5-6 days in a week usually around 08:00-18:00 (sometimes, even longer) with lunch break in 12:00-13:30. There will be some pocket money to be used for meals (besides the lunch on the working days) and a part of the travel cost to the island. Thus, there are some possibilities to have another public work once a week such as beach cleaning and activities at the elders home though not sure.

LOGEMENT & NOURRITURE

Local house rent for the volunteers with some sleeping rooms, bath, kitchen, toilet, etc. Meals will be cooked by the volunteers themselves besides the lunch on the working days that will be provided by each farm.

12304;About the foundation12305;Louyoung Foundation was founded in 1995, by a group of enthusiastic local cultural figures, who first organised tour guide groups, volunteer groups, a scout community, the Louyoung puppet theater troupe, and much more. The first preparations to establish Louyoung Cultural and Educational Foundation were made in 1994 by a group of like-minded friends who organized local concerts, art exhibitions, lectures and seminars to bring more activities into the community. The idea of a cultural center was also supported by local people who enjoyed the community activities and wanted to promote and maintain local traditions.Luckily, preparations were made one year later, and in 1995 the first National Art Festival was launched in the county. Yunlin Cultural Bureau wanted to hold the festival in Xiluo, and in order to promote the local heritage, the festival was called Romance of Xiluo . Since at that time Louyoung Foundation was not known by Yunlin Cultural bureau, it officially applied to host the festival since this event will be a great opportunity to make Louyoung Foundation known to the public. Therefore, the initiative of inviting reporters and social media was taken in hope to promote the foundation and to raise enough funds to set it up.As a result of the previous actions and initiatives, the Louyoung Cultural and Educational Foundation was founded. The board of directors was established, being led by: Chairman Liao Deng Tang and CEO Lee Hong Yi, followed by Lai Mei Ru and Louise Ho as Executive Secretaries, Liao Sheng Long, Yang Yong Xiong and the volunteer community hoping they could make Xiluo a better place. It is now the most important cultural center in the city, which provides space for artists and writers to display their work, and where visitors can learn more about the old town s history and traditions. This project is actively working for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), organized together with Green Volunteers for Green Future (GV4GF) since 2012 (first time in this place). Hatton was created after British planters established a coffee plantation before tea was introduced. South Indian people came here as temporary labors. They work one month, get their wage of just one British pound, and leave. Very unhealthy, small, packed rooms constructed by planters for laborers temporary living. No sufficient toilet facilities and no drinking water were the main problem those days but fewer complaints because they stayed only one month. Some people stayed two or more to earn more. After independence, British people were left but the majority of the laborers stayed here, they preferred local lives. Some were stayed with their families. Now their 3rd and 4th generations are living there. These communities still live in almost the same conditions, 3 generations living in small houses, low sanitary facilities, difficulties in accessing education, and low wages cause huge problems. The results are migration to cities, young age marriage, and lost community leadership. Almost all families in this area depend on vegetable farming and working in tea estates. They are separated from the outside of the world. Volunteers are going to meet youths and children in orphanages and common society.

TRAVAIL

Our projects consist of two parts. First three days we worked at the orphanage. That is our main work. We are going to meet and help a family who doing domestic industries for a living. 1. The majority is Tamil, who were brought here 200 years ago by British planters. The climate is very cold and the day temperature drops 150C to in day time and 100C at night. There are nice scenic places, mountains, and beautiful waterfalls. In this area the main language is Tamil and volunteers can experience South Indian subculture here. Project overviewShining Star ECDC and Orphans School is located in Migori County, Nyatike Sub-county, Muhuru division, Muhuru -East location in Tagache Sub-location, along Muhuru-Migori road. The School was founded in 1999 by Mr. Hevrone Killmess Mairah due to lack of access to educational institutions in the area due to its remote setting, challenges posed by orphans the majority of whose parents are ravaged by HIV/AIDS pandemic and the high illiteracy levels within the community coupled high unemployment. In 2000 the school had a good number of children and 3 teachers and the community enjoyed the being of Shining Star.In 2001 the school was temporarily closed due to the conflict within the local community until 2002 when this was resolved and the community agreed to host the School at the local Church due to lack of classroom buildings.2003 the land was bought and demarcation done.In 2005 the first classroom was built by a volunteer called Steffi Rahn a 19-year old from Germany.2009 started hosting volunteers from KVDA courtesy of the Germany Government sponsored program Weltwaerts that afforded young Germans an opportunity to volunteer in Kenya for the duration of one year.2011 Shining Star was registered with the Kenyan Government as a learning institution.2012 started building dormitory for both orphans and those having parents with the help of former KVDA volunteer from Germany named Daniel, which structure has since been completed.2013 the School started goat farming and poultry farming that is still underway. It also set aside space for an orphanage home and new toilets that are already finished. There are more plans in the pipeline e.g. Agriculture, Business loaning for the widows and youths, competitive sports between local clubs and the School where trophies, balls and other gifts will be awarded to the participating teams The School has a population of over 360 children, 11 teachers and 5 support staff. The School has classes from Kindergarten to Standard eight.Shining Star ECDC and Orphans School is a community based education institution and caters for the needs of the orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) that had been rendered destitute. Fishing is the mainstay of the local community thanks to the expansive Lake Victoria. Due to the easy cash courtesy of the Lake, young people have been lured to drop out of School to engage in fishing and this has negatively impacted on the community since it has resulted in early marriages, school drop outs, early and unplanned pregnancies not forgetting the spread of HIV/AIDS that has resulted in increased number of OVCs in the community. Community empowerment is crucial in achieving the overall objective of attaining sustainable development.

VIN runs a number of environmental projects to conserve, promote and protect environment and culture and to prevent, abate and control water, land and air pollution in order to enhance health, safety and welfare of this and future generation. We use permaculture for sustainable farming We started teaching and implementing Permaculture from later 2018 We believe Permaculture help restore whole ecosystem Agriculture provides subsistence and employment for 80 of the population of Nepal, accounting for approximately 39 to the total GDP. The development of the sector is crucial for the empowerment of those who rely upon it and for the national economy. Since Nepal is in Himalayan region, it has been badly affected by the Climate Change The sources of water are drying; new types of moths / insects are in existence; the crop cultivation time changed, unexpected change in climate, unpredictable rainfall, draughts etc. are the result of global warming Nepalese farmers facing. 12 principles of Permaculture U? 1/2 Observe and interact- LetU? 1/2s slow down and observe and appreciate our surroundings and others. LetU? 1/2s slow down and interact with others, in real life, not on our phones. U? 1/2 Catch and store energy- Take time to relax to restore balance and energy. Also, for me this means associating myself with those who bring positive energy and it means doing things that bring me joy and make me feel energized like running and learning. U? 1/2 Obtain a yield- In permaculture, this of course might mean planting in such a way that the most food is created. The food is the reward. In life, we can work to obtain an intrinsic or extrinsic reward. These rewards need not be strictly financial. Perhaps the reward is making a difference in your clientU? 1/2s life or making your coworkerU? 1/2s day a little bit easier. U? 1/2 Apply self-regulation and accept feedback- Self-regulation or self-control allows us to be accountable and it empowers us. Feedback helps us improve which will help us excel at work. U? 1/2 Use and value renewable resources and services and produce no waste- These two principles are simply common-sense tips to living a eco-friendly lifestyle and in creating a more sustainable world. U? 1/2 Design from patterns to details- Permaculture calls for standing back and observing patterns in nature and in society and then filling in the details; this might make for a more efficient and logical way to work as well. U? 1/2 Integrate rather than segregate and use and value diversity- These principles translate perfectly in how we should all live in harmony with each other by integrating everyone into our communities and valuing diversity. U? 1/2 Use small and slow solutions- Permaculture uses small and slow solutions because they are easier to manage than bigger solutions and they allow for the use of local resources leading to more sust

First five days we worked at the orphanage. That is our main work. As a second part, we are going to meet and help a family who doing domestic industries for a living. 1. Visit an orphanage and have activities with youths. 2. Activities with village children 3. Adams Peak, Nuwara Eliya ( the highest elevation city, Botanic Gardens, etc. are the icons. The project site is 6 hours from Colombo by bus.
