TRAVAIL

Each year in Nepal an estimated 10,000-15,000 girls are trafficked across the border to be sold into Indian brothels or forced to become domestic servants, beggars, factory workers, or other workers. This project aims to prevent the trafficking of girls from Nepal, within the country oroutside. Many young girls, women are vulnerable totrafficking due to a lack of education among the people. The volunteer will educatethe students, people at the schools, and community.How you can help- Prepare resources (leaflet, pamphlet, brochures etc.) on trafficking prevention- Impart awareness on women s trafficking prevention at the schools, community.- Provide various classes on women s right, life skills as per necessity.- Conduct awareness campaign projects in the community.

LOGEMENT & NOURRITURE

Volunteers stay with the host family/hostel identified by VIN. The living conditions at the host family/ hostel are simple and basic. Male and female volunteers will share the same living area but have separate sleeping rooms. The volunteers sleep on simple beds/mattresses. Please bring your sleeping bag. The food will be provided in Nepali standard i.e. dal Bhat (rice, lentil soup, vegetables, pickle, eggs).

SITUATION

VIN works in three different districts Kathmandu, Nuwakot, and Okhaldhunga are the three districts where VIN works. If you arrive early or wish to stay in Nepal after your volunteer period, VIN offers weekend travel tours to Chitwan Jungle Safari, Pokhara, and Nagarkot at reasonable prices.

Application for Placement Booking Volunteers must apply to our partner organizations in their own country. – Attach your updated resume/curriculum vitae (CV) with two referee contact details (referees can be for your work/university/family); – Await confirmation from VIN for acceptance; – If you wish to work for more than one placement, then you are required to pay euro80 extra to cover our added logistical work. – VIN Volunteer / Internship project induction starts on the 1st and 15th of each month. The induction period is considered part of your project period. If you wish to come in between for a short period, you will receive a basic orientation before the placement. Please arrive one day prior (e.g. on the 14th if you are starting on the 15th) to the project induction date. Registration All the registration formalities will be completed in the first three days during the induction period. This will consist of understanding and signing a contract and paying the project fee and doing a PCR test. Please note that the entire project fee will be collected during the induction days and your PCR cost is not included in the program fee. You will have to produce a photocopy of your passport, fully vaccinated certificate, your visa as well as a passport photo. VIN will issue a volunteer identity card for you.

The Medium and Long-Term Volunteer Program (MLTV program) is an International Volunteer Exchange program that is run and managed by Uganda Pioneers Association (UPA) through collaboration, partnerships and affiliation to credible voluntary service organizations. UPA has hosted international volunteers since its inception in 1989 and upholds volunteer exchange and intercultural cooperation as tools for promotion of community based development, intercultural understanding and youth participation.The objectives of the MLTV program are to: I Contribute to the development of community based social services I Promote and improve natural and acquired skills useful to the community I Promote and exchange cultures in order to create friendship and mutual understandingI Encourage the youth as dynamic age group to take leading roles in developmentUPA partners with organisations/institutions and projects that aim at the development of the local communities. UPA has a guesthouse for the international volunteers that can accommodate up to 18 volunteers at a time. The volunteers have to share rooms with others. The guesthouse has basic facilities including a kitchen, a bathroom, a toilet and latrines. Apart from the guesthouse you can choose to stay with a host family. The host families are either in the same area with the guesthouse and the UPA office or can be chosen close to your project. Staying with a host family gives you the chance to get in touch with the Ugandan cultures on a different level than staying in the guesthouse among other international volunteers, even though the standard of living might be more basic than in the guesthouse.

SITUATION

Uganda is a beautiful country gifted by nature. Volunteers may take time off on weekends or after the project to visit National parks (lions, elephants, giraffes, kobs, buffalos etc), go white water rafting, visit the mountain gorillas and enjoy the Ugandan sun. Apart from the expenses included in the participation fee for the workcamp, you will have tobear the costs of the trips you will probably organize with the group, for going out and foryour shopping (ie. souvenirs).For the trips, we would suggest to make sure you have an amount of 10/20aO.For everything else, your budget depends on what you want to buy in Togo and where youwant to go outside the workcamp. Uganda PioneersI Association (UPA) is an indigenous youth voluntary Non-Government Organization (NGO) registered with the National NGO Bureau in Uganda, under Ref No. S5914/114. The organization focuses on offering youth with the opportunity to contribute to community development by involving them in community projects through themed workcamps and international volunteer exchanges. The organisation is Not-for-Profit and ds not represent any political, religious or sectarian motives.

TRAVAIL

The volunteer will be expected to:Participate in learning and teaching of the children, under guidance/in liaison with the teachers.Play an active role in all aspects of the kindergarten together with the rest of the team.Help prepare resources and materials required in the learning process.Assist with indoor and outdoor games as well as excursions.Contribute to planning, implementation and evaluation of the kindergartens activities.Contribute to documentation of childrens learning.Participate in music, dance and drama as well as preparation for festivals/shows.AND many other line activities as may be advised / introduced from time to time.

TRAVAIL

Le centre Lalla Meryem fait partie de la Ligue Marocaine pour la protection de l enfance. Il accueille des orphelins depuis leur naissance jusqu a l age de 6 ans ainsi que des enfants abandonnes trouves dans la rue. Le centre est ensuite charge de leur trouver une famille d accueil. Le centre peut accueillir jusqu a 200 enfants. Aujourd hui il en accueille 123 dont 50 sont handicapes (trisomie 21, handicaps moteurs – certains sont en fauteuils roulants -, handicaps mentaux comme l autisme). Des travailleurs sociaux specialises, des infirmieres et des docteurs travaillant au centre assurent le suivi medical et social des enfants. Les orphelins commencent leur education scolaire a partir de 3 ans dans les ecoles privees et publiques de Rabat. En tant que volontaire, vous aiderez les travailleurs sociaux dans les taches quotidiennes du centre : prendre les douches, preparer les repas, nourrir les bebes, emmener les enfants en balade, organiser des activites en exterieur. Galilee Community General Hospital was started up in 2008 in the slum areas of Lubaga Division, 5 km from the capital Kampala. The establishment of Galilee was due to lack of health services in the area as people had to travel long distances to the public hospitals. The hospital currently has a capacity of up to forty inpatient beds. It is registered by the Medical board council of Uganda with a practicing License. UPA has a guesthouse for the international volunteers that can accommodate up to 18 volunteers at a time. The volunteers have to share rooms with others. The guesthouse has basic facilities including a kitchen, a bathroom, a toilet and latrines. Apart from the guesthouse you can choose to stay with a host family. The host families are either in the same area with the guesthouse and the UPA office or can be chosen close to your project. Staying with a host family gives you the chance to get in touch with the Ugandan cultures on a different level than staying in the guesthouse among other international volunteers, even though the standard of living might be more basic than in the guesthouse.

SITUATION

Uganda is a beautiful country gifted by nature. Volunteers may take time off on weekends or after the project to visit National parks (lions, elephants, giraffes, kobs, buffalos etc), go white water rafting, visit the mountain gorillas and enjoy the Ugandan sun. Volunteers stay with the host family/hostel identified by VIN. The living conditions at the host family/ hostel are simple and basic. The food will be provided in Nepali standard i.e. dal Bhat (rice, lentil soup, vegetables, pickle, eggs).

TRAVAIL

Volunteers will assist in a variety of tasks including but not limited to: administrative support in the office, helping with fundraising activities, supporting the residential community by helping with planning and participating in house activities and Residential Advisor duties (See below). The type of work and number of hours varies but is usually 4 ( 6 hours a day. Volunteers live on site and participate in all house activities including evening meals and all outside activities. Resident Advisor position requires a confident individual who will be on duty evenings and every other weekend. There primary function will be to contact staff if there is an emergency, lock doors at night, assist residents when needed and participate in house functions.Office Assistant will be working with staff on all of the day to day operations of a small non-profit organization. Tasks include: clerical work; student recruiting activities; fund raising activities; general administrative duties; as well as participating in all of the residential group activities. The average work day might consist of approximately 4-6 hours of office work.

It is the only public school that forms young people in the artisanal domain. The varietyand the quality of the sculpture is surprising. One can find statues, coffrets, chairs and animals(elephants, gazells, …). Pottery is another speciality of the centre. Batik stained by hand andfabricated in a procedure with wax, can be found in the centre as well as fabric weaved with vividcolours by women. The volunteer has the possibility to choose between staying in the guesthouse, with different international volunteers (sharing room, normally 2-4 people) or to stay in a host family. Accommodation is at the UPA Guesthouse, average but not luxury. The Guesthouse has a bathroom with a shower, and a toilet. In the Guesthouse the volunteers prepare their own food. UPA provides gas cooker, a fridge, and utensils.Alternatively, a volunteer can stay with a host family to be more exposed to the Ugandan culture, if thats his/her wish and this should be communicated UPA on application for the project. Volunteers live together family- style in homes lead by long term volunteers in the community. Each person has their own bedroom. SITUATION

We live in the middle of a conservation area with hiking and biking trails, waterfalls and a pristine river to can and kayak. Our friendly small town offers shopping, coffee shops, parks, community theater, swimming pool, gym, basic amenities, and local festivals. Museums, concerts, theaters and events can be accessed an hour away in Minneapolis/St Paul. While there is no public transport, people over 21 with a clear driving record can often drive our vehicles and those who cant are offered rides and use of bikes for shorter distances. We make it possible for volunteers to camp, visit Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee, (4-7 hours away) and Lake Superior depending on their interest and enjoy connecting them to opportunities see more of the USA in and outside the tourist areas. Year-long volunteers can expect to have about 3 weeks of vacation offered through the year.

This project will be carried out in cooperation with a non-profit organization that brings together different professionals, to contribute to change by small solidarity actions. They help the most vulnerable communities by carrying out medical missions, attending the needs of children between the ages of 0 and 12 and the elderly.In addition, they provide training and support in different projects to teenage mothers, single mums and mothers who are heads of families. They also support projects aimed at this continuous improvement in the quality of our habitat.

TRAVAIL

In general, volunteers help organize and develop the different activities of the foundation, which includes support before, during and after the medical missions.The work includes:- Office work- Organizing medicine and inventory.- Folding clothes- Helping organize and sort out donations.- Managing social media of the organization.- Joining the medical missions.For some missions the volunteer has to pay the airplane tickets, it depends on the geographical area where the mission is carried out. (e.g. a medical mission in the Amazonas). TRAVAIL

L Association Marocaine pour la Sauvegarde des Enfants non-Integres (AMSEI) a ouvert un centre a Rabat appele Al Basma qui accueille les jeunes de 4 a 20 ans pendant la journee. Il leur propose des activites et prend en charge leurs besoins medicaux. L AMSEI a aussi mis en place des classes integrees en partenariat avec les ecoles publiques pendant lesquelles elle peut apporter un soutien individuel aux jeunes qui sont en mesure de suivre des cours reguliers. Les activites concretes de l association sont l organisation d activites educatives, sportives, artistiques, manuelles et culturelles avec les enfants; la realisation des conseils de vie et des rendez-vous reguliers avec les familles pour orienter les enfants vers des activites adaptees ; l apport d un soutien et d un suivi medical aux enfants. Les jeunes sont repartis en 4 groupes selon leur age (4-7 ans, 8-11 ans, 12-16 ans, 17-20 ans) pour leur proposer des activites adaptees. Le groupe des plus jeunes aborde des thematiques telles que le developpement personnel, la socialisation et l integration scolaire, tandis que le groupe des plus ages s interesse davantage aux questions du developpement d activites lucratives et d integration socio-professionnelle. Avec les enfants qui souffrent de handicaps lourds et cumules, l accent est mis sur le developpement de leurs competences sensorielles et de leurs capacites d autonomie et de socialisation.En tant que volontaire, vous prendrez soin des enfants et les accompagnerez dans leurs activites quotidiennes. Vous assisterez la realisation d activites de loisir (educatives, sportives, artistiques). Vous aiderez a la cuisine. Vous ferez du soutien scolaire en faisant appel a des techniques creatives (des jeux, des chansons). La Fondation Orient-Occident (FOO) a pour mission d accompagner les migrants, les refugies et les jeunes defavorises vers le chemin de l emploi en creant des centres de formation socio-educatifs et professionnels. Le Maroc en tant que Porte de l Europe voit en effet arriver illegalement chaque annee de nombreux migrants et refugies d Afrique. Dans la tradition marocaine de solidarite et d hospitalite, la Fondation apporte un soutien educatif, professionnel et culturel a ces jeunes. En tant que volontaire, vous serez en equipe avec des volontaires nationaux pour realiser des enseignements non formels de francais, anglais, mathematiques basiques et autre matiere necessaire. Vous participerez aussi a l organisation et l animation d activites sportives et de loisirs. Vous organiserez toutes les deux semaines des activites pour promouvoir la diversite culturelle. Vous serez egalement amenes a prendre part aux autres activites que le CSM et les volontaires nationaux realisent avec les immigrants et les refugies (surtout les enfants et les adolescents). Une approche flexible du travail est necessaire, vous devez etre pret a realiser des taches multiples. Vous pourrez alors vous sentir utile aupres des refugies ce qui sera pour vous une experience valorisante. Ce chantier vous permettra de decouvrir les habitudes et la culture des volontaires marocains ainsi que des refugies et vous aidera a vous integrer dans la communaute locale.
