The Marche-en-Famenne workcamp is the outcome of the collaboration between municipal authorities and a local non-profit organization. More than fifteen years ago, the mayor and deputies wanted to develop international contacts for the local youngsters. GRIMM association was just beginning to work on the protection of the local life framework and promoting models of sustainable development. Their members had a full load of ideas but were short of hands to realize them. Thus, they came to the idea of involving volunteers from all over the world. Since then, the municipality makes its buildings available every summer and welcomes foreign youngsters. GRIMM members organize the work. With the help from the volunteers, they are eventually able to realize the projects they dreamt about. Their actions are based on the following philosophy: Nature belongs to everyone. Lutherstadt Wittenberg is famous for the reformer Martin Luther and the painter and printmaker Cranach. Wittenberg became one of the most important German towns of political, cultural, historical and artistic advances in the 16th century. The famous reformation places in the historic centre and the buildings developed in different epochs are forming the architecture of the town. It has been 500 years since Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg. Although there is no historical proof of this happening, it was an event that changed the world. The reformations caused bitter religious and cultural battles. One of Luthers great achievements was translating the Bible into the vernacular (instead of Latin). Germany is paying tribute to one of its greatest sons with an entire decade devoted to Martin Luther: monk, professor and church reformer. Many people travel to Wittenberg because of its past, and its connection to Martin Luther who worked there. The river Elbe is close to the Biosphere reserve Mittlere Elbe.

Centre for the alternative culture The Nest is a house dedicated to the revival and promotion of modern art through exhibitions, festivals, music shows, cinema theatre, discussions and workshops. The mural should promote the idea of the unity. In order to maintain the center clean and ecological, the volunteers will plant some trees nearby The Nest, help clean the riverside of Rasina, that flows on one side of the Nest , and also set up the trash bins alongside of the river. This way we will help the environment stay clean and more enjoyable for the locals to spent their free time in the nature.
