TRAVAIL

Fiji has over 700 primary schools and 150 secondary schools spread across both the public and private sectors. Most expats send their children to a private schools, with the majority selecting the international schools located in either Suva or Nadi. Public schools in Fiji are open to expat enrolment, but are rarely used due to somewhat erratic educational standards. Furthermore, parents are often reluctant to send students to these schools as they find the curriculum one-sided, and children who regularly move in and out of school systems may find the experience limited. While public schools are theoretically mixed-race, socio-economic issues and the geographic distribution of ethnic groups mean that, in practice, the schools often comprise a single race. In many villages, there will be a small school with teachers doing their best to serve the students spread across a variety of educational levels. Fiji is a country in much need of external help, especially with its Young population. You will experience life in both rural and urban areas, which is quite different from the average journey followed by a tourist. Most locals on Fiji can t afford to travel, and in the villages there is little chance of contact with the outside world. Your teaching enable students to form relationships with someone from another culture, and the teachers can learn different teaching methods and techniques. Mainly, you will assist the regular school teacher, so you do not need to have any teaching

Suva has an approximate amount of 86,000 inhabitants and works as a harbour city built on the peninsula. The city has a warm rainy tropical weather throughout the year, which keeps the flora fresh, and the temperature in beach-perfect scenery. This town represents the meaning of a multicultural country. It has so many combinations between European, Indian, Asian and Fijian that every single person seems as interesting as the next one. Make sure not to miss the Fiji Museum to learn more about how the beautiful Fiji came to be. The Construction and Renovation project is to support the village community centers such as the village school, village playground, public library etc. Together we will make a difference for the local villages and children, by supporting them to have better living conditions. The Construction and Renovation project on Lombok supports small communities in and around the island. It aims to build and renovate buildings that are essential for the growth and development of the local community. Our project helps relieve them of some of the stress and pressure that they are living under. Project participants work under a local foreman (coordinator) who provides guidance and training alongside local families. The project involves hard physical and manual labor, as you will be laying bricks, doing carpentry, painting, laying tiles, and landscaping/gardening.

LOGEMENT & NOURRITURE

Participants will stay at our Centre in Senggigi. The accommodation is dorm style with bunk style beds. There are also refrigerators at the houses. For those who do not eat meat, Indonesian cooking uses a lot of tofu and tempeh (soy beans), we also provide for some of western dish Breakfasts are varied and include pancakes, fresh fruit, toast etc.

SITUATION

Location Approximately 35 kilometers east of Bali at its closest point, lays the island Lombok (80 km by 70 km) populated by mostly Sasak people. Lombok is an Indonesian island east of Bali and west of Sumbawa known for picturesque beaches and prime surfing area. The motor-vehicle-free Gili Islands, off Lombok s west coast, offer more beaches, reefs for diving and snorkeling, and a sea turtle hatchery. It differs considerably from its neighbor islands, with lots of wide-open spaces and unspoiled beaches, and much less traffic and pollution. The island s northern area is dominated by the remarkable bulk of Gunung Rinjani, and trekking at least part of the way up is the reason many travelers come to Lombok. Lombok does not receive as much display as its hugely popular neighbor Bali. Nevertheless, many Indonesians prefer vacationing in Lombok over Bali for many reasons: prices for accommodation, food and attractions are often a good deal cheaper, and the island s scenic spots are still unmolested by the gated villa developments, cheap cocktail bars and souvenir shops that have spread across so much of Bali, at least for now.

BESOIN SPÉCIAL

Additional Requirements There will be a construction material surcharge of 40 EUR per week. Additional Equipment Supplies For all programs, it is imperative to remember that any money raised to help your project when you arrive in Bali will be very well received. Often it is hard for the participants to take too many supplies due to limitations on baggage weight but remember that Bali has some very developed shopping centers where supplies can be bought once you have arrived in the country. This is our recommended and preferred way to contribute to the program. Not only does it mean you do not have to cart the supplies on the plane with you, it means any money you spend will be invested back into the Indonesian (Lombok) economy. Below we have listed some supplies that are very helpful on the teaching and street children programs. Hankies Balloons Bubble Solution Face Paint Music player and some children s music Musical instruments Stickers, stamps and certificates Group games such as bingo, snakes and ladders, twister etc. Colored drawing paper Pencils/Pens/Markers/Crayons Books (any type) Posters Colored pavement chalk Chalk. INTERNATIONAL ARRIVALS AND PICK UP : Bandar Udara Internasional Lombok. A police check (CRB) must be provided.

Program DescriptionThe two temple schools where we are working in these local communities, provide housing, food and education to children who may be without any family members to care for them, as well as those whose families cannot afford to take care of them. Moreover, these locations provide a home environment for children who come from Hill Tribes, but were registered as in need of supervision, in order for them to be considered Thai citizens, and receive applicable services. Most large temples schools in Thailand have integrated their own primary (and secondary) school onto their grounds and ours are no exception. The classrooms may seem old and a bit dirty, but the students are lovely and are happy to see our participants come each day.The temple school offers a safe learning environment for children who may come from underdeveloped backgrounds and have limited opportunities. Therefore, the temple school concentrates on the well-being of these children and offers them assistance in developing into happy and productive young adults. Other children attending the schools may come from remote areas of Thailand, where education is virtually non-existent or inaccessible. These children are at the temple school predominantly here for educational purposes, and will return home during certain periods of the year to be with family and friends. This program s focus consists of construction and renovation work that improves the facade and structures of the school and e

These rooms are more luxurious, uniquely designed and located apart from the two standard participant residences and so are noticeably quieter.

Singburi was founded under the reign of King Rama V through the consolidation of 3 small towns located on the bank of The Chao Phraya River. The three small towns, Sing Buri, In Buri and Phrom Buri, were then established as a single town on the west of the Chao Phraya River in 1895.Your new home is set close to the village of Tha Kham, an extremely rural area that will give you the chance to experience the Thailand that very few get to see.
