Your week will be filled with trips to various cultural and natural hotspots in Nosy Be.Aims and ObjectivesThe purpose of this program is to help you get an understanding of the manners, norms, and etiquette that is inherent in Malagasy society as well as show you around and introduce you to your new surroundings, helping you feel right at home in this warm and friendly community.

About the AccommodationIn our center, there is a dining room, a lounge area where you can hang out with fellow participants and a beautiful garden to relax. A balcony and large roof terrace is also available for you to spend some quality time.Furthermore, there is a refrigerator which you are welcome to use to store food and beverages. Food ArrangementsThe meals are a mix of Western and Malagasy food, consisting mainly of vegetarian dishes including rice and vegetables. You can expect to have a chicken dish about twice a week. SITUATION

Nosy is an island off the northwest coast of Madagascar. Nosy Be is Madagascar s largest and busiest tourist destination. It has an area of 320.02 square kilometers and its population was estimated at 73,010. Nosy Be means big island in the Malagasy language. The island was called Assada during the early colonial era of the 17th century.Here you ll find volcanic lakes, lemurs, rum distilleries, Ylang Ylang plantations and breathtaking coral reefs that are practically begging to be explored. In May, come to experience the four-day Donia Music Festival. Perfectly located on the Indian Ocean between Africa and Asia, Nosy-Be evokes feelings of discovery and adventure, the rich and endemic biodiversity will have begging for more. Learning a different language is never easy…it takes a lot of hard work and study, but through this exchange program we hope to make it easier and fun for you The best way to learn a language is by immersing yourself in it. That makes the Phillipines a great option within Asia, as English is an official language of the Philippines. It means you will be surrounded by the language you are learning, making it easier for you to engage in English conversations and practice in a realistic setting. The government s strong focus on the English language is one of the reasons the Philippines is ranked as one of the highest in English proficiency in Asia. It is common for road signs, TV, radio media and printed media to be in English and most of its people are competent in English. Outdoor activities and games will also be big part of your learning, especially considering how beautiful this locations is You will also learn in a professional classroom environment. Your teachers will be university lecturers and you ll have the great opportunity to exchange cultures, languages, politics and more with both them, and the students of the university. This exchange program will connect with the rural area by having some of our English classes in rural areas, and by visiting our other ongoing community programs happening around the Palawan area.

About the Accommodation This center houses all participants in their programs around Palawan. It is built with many natural elements and have a tropical beach look to them You ll be sleeping on bunk beds and we have limited laundry facilities, so expect to wash your clothes by hand, unless you d like to use the laundry service here for a small fee. Food Arrangements The food will consist mainly of local Philippine cuisine (lots of vegetables, meat, egg and rice) and will be served on site at this accommodation.

SITUATION

Palawan is a special island dotted with fishing villages and surrounded by beautiful blue sea. The scenes contrasts perfectly with the emerald green jungled mountains which form its landscape. Our accommodation is located in Tigman Village in Aborlan District, a small and laid back area just outside of Puerto Princesa City.

Learning about the culture and lifestyle is one of the most important aspects of travelling. By doing so, you will know how to interact with locals, be aware of local customs and get a better chance to fully indulge in your new surroundings. Our culture week does exactly this During the program, you will learn the basics of Ugandan culture, explore the location and new surroundings, learn how to cook Ugandan food, go sightseeing and more. This week of relaxation aldo gives you the chance to meet other participants and make new friends Aims and Objectives : Help you get familiarized with your new surroundings, Teach you helpful Luganda and Swahili phrases, Broaden your knowledge of the local customs, history, and culture of Uganda, Provide you with a full induction, preparing you for a longer stay.

LOGEMENT & NOURRITURE

You will either be staying at our homestay or in our rural accommodation center. The homestay is a bit more comfortable with the family setting, but in our farm accommodation itself is quite basic and authentic. All participants are expected to be environmentally aware and to use all resources with restraint, especially water, paper, and electricity. You will be expected to clean up after yourself, and to play your part to keep the accommodation neat and organized.Food Arrangements: 3 meals on weekdays, 2 on weekends. Food will be Ugandan-style, which means lots of vegetables, potatoes, bananas, bread, and pancakes. Some dishes may have meat, but if you are vegetarian just let your coordinator know.FacilitiesThere are many shops located near our homestay, all within 10-15 minutes walking distance.Transportation to Kampala is available from the homestay. Local transport from Farm accommodation is much less frequent, but arrangements can be made and/or information provided to assist you with getting to Kampala, the capital of Uganda.

It was formed with the support of like-minded National and International Organizations with a primary purpose to bring about global transformation, progress and growth through youth exchange programs. FSL-India is headquartered in Bangalore, with regional offices in Karnataka (Bangalore, Mysore and Kundapur), Tamil Nadu (Chennai), and Pondicherry and is well equipped with experienced associates who support developmental activities across the country with the help of Local and Regional Partners. It is estimated that more than 400,000 street children in India exist. FSL i India like many other NGOs and local initiatives in India, work for the welfare of these children often termed as working children .The focus is to take these children away from the streets and from their working place in order to give them a chance to live a decent and accepted standard of life. The effort is to try and place as many of these children in centres, boarding schools and day-care shelters etc. and help them return to the regular schooling system, where they are provided vocational education and training skills that would help them find a decent job in the future and keep them away from exploitation.Much of the development work these projects is based on education known also as alternative education .Therefore, the volunteers will be required to teach in most of the projects where they work with street children. Hence, an interest in teaching and love for children is of utmost importance to the project.Other work activities will involve supporting the staff in the daily activities of the schools. – A creative approach to work and dealing with the children will be useful and you will have the opportunity to initiate new mini projects or activities. You could be staying with local families near to the project. You could be sharing rooms with 2-3 volunteers or staying on your own. Sometimes, projects provide accommodation for the volunteers. The project will provide a room that is shared by other volunteers or with the staff of the project.

SITUATION

Our projects are spread out across different regions in South India. Your project location could be in any one of the following locations – Bangalore, Mysore, Chennai, Kundapur, Udupi, Mangalore, North Karnataka or Pondicherry. You will be notified of the location of your project a month prior to your arrival. During the Orientation week, one can find out the leisure activities around your area. TRAVAIL

This is a mountain area where people are purely dependent on agriculture for a living. However, due to shortage of water and small terraces on sloppy land the agriculture is unsustainable and farm production is not enough to cover three meals a day for a family round the year. People realise the ill effects of using chemicals on farms but still use them because of lack of education. Both the volunteers will be involved in developing agriculture fields and grow herbs and vegetables organic way. They will work on raising awareness on various agricultural practices and set up demonstration units for farmers. In extra time, they can create awareness on environmental issues like Global warming, climate change, depletion of natural resources and wherever possible in seeking solutions as well.

LOGEMENT & NOURRITURE

This will be simple and shared accommodation. All volunteers will be staying in RUCHI complex accommodation with basic amenities. We shall provide mattresses but the volunteers are required to bring their own bed sheets, sleeping bags and personal toiletries.Food offered will be simple authentic Indian vegetarian and freshly cooked. Three meals a day will be served. Assistance while cooking is desired of volunteers. Volunteers are free to cook meals of their country choice on every Sunday.

SITUATION

RUCHI campus is spread over an area of 3 hectares in Bandh village and has good fertile soil. Kitchen gardens need to be promoted to grow vegetables for consumption by staff and volunteers. In due course we would like them to serve as demonstration centre for farmers.During leisure time, volunteers can visit Rock Garden in Chandigarh and Shimla Hills.

During Culture week, you will learn about Chinese culture, get an insight into the language and even learn how to make dumplings You will visit Huguang Lake Global Geopark, Cunjin Park, Zhanjiang s beach and its Chinese University. About the Accommodation You will live in the student dormitory in Guangdong Ocean University Cunjin College or its nearby dorm halls. You can expect that outside in public areas your wifi signal will be good, like in the office and halls, but many prefer to buy a network card at shops for internet access from your dormitory room. Please expect to use squatting toilets during our stay here (a natural, healthier alternative). Food Arrangements Three typical Chinese meals a day are provided and served at the dining hall. For dinner, we usually offer noodles and fried rice which foreign students seem to enjoy. A vegetarian option is also available.

Volunteers Initiative Nepal (VIN)

This is for those who want to learn about Nepali culture. You will be placed into a typical Nepali home in a village. This project has been known to pull visitors out of that visitor s bubble and integrate them into the place of an accepted family member of a Nepali household. You would be giving back by teaching English at the community school. This is a unique and unforgettable experience [Due to school holidays these projects will remain closed during the months January and sometimes in April, July and October. You are encouraged to take part in the winter camps in January. There are also other VIN projects.Your Role- Learn Nepali language and culture through day to day activities.- Interact with local community members.- Teach basic English at school or other subject/activity of interest and need.- Or organize basic fun activities at early childhood development centers.

SITUATION

Jitpur community of Kathmandu District, which is only about 11 km away from main ring road to Balaju, Kathmandu. Nuakot and Okhaldhunga, a beautiful and hilly district, is located in Everest Region of Nepal. It has limited developmental activities and facilities. From Kathmandu, the shortest bus route is about 250 km which is rough and takes one day to reach there.

Application for Placement Booking Volunteers must apply to our partner organizations in their own country. – Attach your updated resume / curriculum vitae (CV) with two referee contact details (referees can be for your work/university/family); – Await confirmation from VIN for acceptance; – If you wish to work for more than one placement, then you are required to pay euro70 ex- tra to cover our added logistical work. – VIN Volunteer / Internship project induction starts on the 1st and 15th of each month. The induction period is considered part of your project period. If you wish to come in between for a short period, you will receive a basic orientation before the placement. Please arrive one day prior (e.g. on the 14th if you are starting on the 15th) to the project induction date. Registration All the registration formalities will be completed in the first three days during the induction period. This will consist of understanding and signing a contract and paying the project fee. Please note that the entire project fee will be collected during the induction days. You will have to produce a photocopy of your passport and of your visa as well as a pass- port photo. VIN will issue a volunteer identity card for you.
