TRAVAIL

The aim of this project is to conserve mangrove plantations in order to reverse the trend of the removal of mangrove sites, which has seen a rapid increase during recent years. This can only realistically be achieved through the education of the younger generation, combined with the continual physical work of planting new mangroves. The province of Kampot is slowly emerging as one of Cambodia s most popular destinations for both domestic and international tourists. Situated in the south-eastern proximity of the country, it offers an abundance of natural attractions. A vital necessity for the tourism industry is the management of mangrove plantation. Unfortunately, in recent years, numerous mangrove sites have been removed from local river banks. Instead, many locals favour salt plantations, as these offer a greater short-term profit. This has contributed to a severe increase in illegal fishing within the province.A good level of physical fitness and a background in environmental-science or tourism would be advantageous, but not necessary. — Aims and Objectives: Reverse the effect of mangrove deforestation through plantingEducate younger generations on the importance of conserving these environments to increase community awarenessGive you invaluable, practical experience in teachingAssist the community project staff by providing an extra handScheduleMonday to FridayYour tasks and activities will vary depending on the current needs of the plantation site. There is much more involved to planting than simply placing a seed into the ground, and you will be taken through the step by step process of every activity by local fishermen. We may work on plantations around the accommodation by repairing young mangroves or head to the nearby delta by boat (20 minutes) to collect seedlings for planting at the nursery. Depending on local conditions, we may also visit pepper plantations (one of Cambodia s finest resources) or organic farms to learn the local techniques and spend time with villagers helping them with construction work. Moreover, we also aim to educate the youngsters of the village by teaching them English at the accommodation. This, however, is entirely optional.Saturday to SundayYou are free to choose what to do during your weekends – it is your free time after all Many of our participants choose to explore what Cambodia has to offer. However, we do offer an optional itinerary, at no extra cost, where we focus on the poorest members of the Kampot community. We are very proud of our work here, distributing second-hand clothes to the local community. We do provide these clothes, but if you have clothes you would otherwise throw away, feel free to bring them along. This schedule can be changed and/or amended depending on weather conditions, local conditions and unforeseen circumstances.

Most South Indians are linguists and speak more than 1 Indian language, while English is the common business language in cities. The majority of the people follow Hinduism, the rest are followers of Islam and Christianity, with a smattering of other religions, including Judaism. The state of Kerala is home to one of the oldest Jewish communities in the world who arrived at the Malabar Coast during the time of King Solomon. South India is blessed with rich flora and fauna in the eastern and western ghats, with many wildlife sanctuaries. It has several beautiful beaches, some of which are relatively unknown. Historically, South India has an impressive cultural heritage and is home to 38 approved World Heritage sites in India. It has many significant temples which were built by the Hoysala, Chola and Chalukya dynasties of kings. South India boasts of having 2 styles of rock architecture, the pure Dravida style of Tamil Nadu and the Vesara style (Karnataka Dravida style) present in Karnataka. The monuments of Hampi, the palaces of Mysore and Bengaluru, the Charminar of Hyderabad, the Meenakshi temple of Madurai, Sravanabelagola, Belur, Halebidu, Tanjore and other cultural delights are frequented by millions of tourists every year. South India is also well known for its rapid development in economy, infrastructure, information and technology. The traditional South Indian clothing for women is a saree, usually with very colourful designs. The men wear a dhoti, which could be either white or colourful, with typical South Indian patterns or designs. Coconut is an important ingredient in Kerala and some parts of Karnataka, whereas Andhra Pradesh s cuisine is characterised by pickles and spicy curries. The famous Hyderabadi cuisine is a legacy of the Moghul kings and its rich and biriyani is mouth-watering. Rice preparations of Dosa, Idli, Pundi, Appam and Uttapam are popular throughout the region. Quick Overview : Teach basic conversational English, basic computer skills and other subjects of your interest to women of different age groups in Kathmandu. The program will have you teaching at a school set up purposely to educate young and older women who cannot read or write. You will be assisting them with extracurricular activities and inspire them to achieve their full potential and broaden their perspectives through creatively structured lessons. — Program Description : This project is specially designed for women who have come to Kathmandu from rural areas to work as housemaids and housewives specially who were deprived of formal education. Most of these female workers do not even have basic education and find it difficult to survive particularly in this age where education has become a fundamental aspect for survival. Therefore, through our project, the foreign teachers enable students to form relationships with someone from another background and culture, and the teachers can learn different teaching methods and techniques.Such schools were established to educate and enlighten, make self assured and independent younger and older women in Kathmandu who were deprived from education in time. This is the age of science and technology so education is more important rather than food, shelter and clothing. The main target of this school is to motivate the younger and older women to show their hidden talents and enable them to participate in developmental activities of family, society and nation. You will teach and educate adult women of different age groups with different learning capacities. You are free to use different methods to teach. You can use the course book as a reference or educate them through conversational and spoken English. During your time there you can teach them different subjects such as mathematics, science, geography, computer technologies, music, spoken and conversational English, personal development, environment awareness, general health and safety and so on. All higher education in Nepal is in English, so it is vital that they learn English. A trained teacher is committed to raising standards in schools in Nepal, and with an adult literacy rate of 67 there is plenty of room for improvement. — Program Duration and Availability: Min duration (weeks):2. –Aims and Objectives : To help the women recognise their strength and grow in their confidence and contribute to the development of Nepal s economy by empowering them.Schedule, Monday to Friday : You will be giving four to five lessons. SITUATION

Kathmandu, the capital and largest city in Nepal, is like no other city in the world. The decaying buildings in the heart of the city are a contrast to the lively atmosphere that permeates the streets. The smell of incense wafts from the stores while street sellers push their wares, and people go about their daily lives, all against a backdrop of historic temples and carved statues. For several hundred years, Kathmandu was one of three rival royal cities, along with Bhaktapur and Patan. Situated in close proximity to each other, today these three almost run together. The highlight of Kathmandu has long been Durbar Square, the largest of the palace squares in the three royal cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Temples and monuments of varying shapes, sizes, styles, and faiths can be found here. Kathmandu s Durbar Square was severely damaged in the 2015 earthquake, with many buildings destroyed beyond repair. For most visitors to Nepal, Kathmandu Valley is the arrival point and the primary focus of the visit. This small, mountain-sheltered valley is the historical center of Nepal, a place where kingdoms rose and fell, where palaces and temples were built and rebuilt, and where Nepali art and culture was developed and refined. Rivers and streams interlace with the landscape, the brick-red villages cling to ridges to preserve precious land and even from the bustling centers of each of the cities, it is possible to catch a glimpse of the snow-capped peaks of the majestic Himalayas against the intense blue skies.

There are lots of things to do in south of India.South India in a nutshellSouth India is a conglomeration of 4 states and 3 union territories, with 4 major rivers running through them. However, due to the modernisation of India, most of the population wear more casual clothing and have also adopted the Western style of clothing, especially in cities.Rice is the staple diet, while fish is an integral component of coastal areas like the state of Kerala and the city of Mangalore, which are known for their seafood. There are large coffee estates in southern Karnataka, parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, where aromatic South Indian coffee is a preferred drink and it

TRAVAIL

Quick Overview: Visit this beautiful island to teach basic English, arts and craft to the toddlers. Bring lots of creativity along with you and make some great friends. These Fijian children are enthusiastic and love meeting and learning from foreign nationals. Their kindergarten schools are beautifully set up and made by our past participants. You will teach them English alphabets, numbers and rhymes including creative arts and crafts and games which can strengthen their knowledge and intellectual capacity. — Program Description : Fiji is a country in much need of external help, especially with its younger population. You will experience life in both rural and urban areas, which is quite different from the average journey followed by a tourist. Most locals in Fiji cannot afford to travel and in the villages there is little chance of contact with the outside world. You will enable students to form relationships with someone from another culture and the teachers can learn different teaching methods and techniques. You will mainly assist the regular school teacher, so you do not need to have any teaching background. The class sizes are large at the kindergartens and so it s difficult for the local staff to give each child as much attention as they need. Your work here is to provide a helping hand by looking after and caring for the children. It is also the perfect opportunity to put any skills and interests you have into use, whether you make arts and crafts, or teach games and songs to the children – your suggestions will be well received. By showing initiative and enthusiasm the options are endless. You can work on achieving the goals set out in the Kindergarten Plan, including conducting educational games and group activities, providing emotional support and helping to improve the quality of life for those living in deprived communities. Some of the activities during the program could be to teach basic English, plan activities for the understanding of English, playing games with the children, organize dynamic age appropriate activities, develop students conversation skills or help children relate to the English language, etc. — Schedule, Monday to Friday: Begin your day s scheduled work at the local kindergarten at 9.00 in the morning. Your session along with the kids will go on until 11:30. During these hours, you can bring with you various educational materials prepared along with the other participants the previous day. The educational materials or educational concept games can be taught to the children and they would love to learn new things daily. Almost every day, at about 12.00 noon, depart for lunch which will be served at our center. During later half of the day, you can prepare lesson plans for the following day.

LOGEMENT & NOURRITURE

About the Accommodation : Participants will stay at our centre on Suva, yet can vary depending on the project, but will be in shared bedrooms at our house Centre. There are refrigerators at the accommodation for the participant s convenience. — Food Arrangements: Three meals, per day are served for the duration of your trip on Monday to Friday two meals per day on the weekends for the duration of your trip. We serve breakfast and dinner at the normal time during the weekend. Breakfast is western style and lunch and dinner are typical Fijian style.

SITUATION

Suva is located on the southeast coast of the island Vitti Levu. It is the capital of the country and the largest most cosmopolitan city of Fiji. Suva has an approximate amount of 86,000 inhabitants and works as a harbour city built on the peninsula. The city has a warm rainy tropical weather throughout the year, which keeps the flora fresh, and the temperature in beach-perfect scenery. This town represents the meaning of a multicultural country. It has so many combinations between European, Indian, Asian and Fijian that every single person seems as interesting as the next one. Make sure not to miss the Fiji Museum to learn more about how the beautiful Fiji came to be. The best part of this multicultural aspect is that you can find Chinese, Indian and Italian cuisines in one place
