Batu Loceng Sub-Village is part of Suntenjaya Village, Lembang Municipality, Bandung Regency. Most of the populations are living as coffee farmers, vegetables farmer, and dairy cow breeder. Batu Loceng village has beautiful natural scenery that became as a potential to become a tourism village. It has its own characteristic of nature, culture, traditional music and martial art. The aim of tourism village is to develop local potential such culture, local people, agriculture, environment, and local history. The participation of local people is the most important thing in developing the tourism village.

KIFAD is located only about 10 km from UPA Guest house. A volunteer will use public means and a boda-boda which will cost 6,000 Uganda Shillings to and from the project. Lubaga Hospital, founded 1899, is a general hospital with a big Public Health Department. It is under the management of a Board of Directors, appointed by the Archbishop of Kampala. Day-to-day management is carried out by a Hospital Administrative Team headed by the Executive Director, the Medical Director and the Hospital Administrator.The hospital has 275 beds (internal medicine, gynecology/obstetrics, pediatrics, surgery). 170.000 outpatients, 18.000 inpatients and about 6.000 deliveries each year characterize the main activities. The AIDS Care and Treatment program follows about 2.000 patients/clients.The hospital is a Private-non-for profit general hospital aeuro( faith based, Catholic.

LOGEMENT & NOURRITURE

Accommodation can be in UPA Guesthouse, host families or in rented house depending on the location of the project you apply for or wish of the volunteer. At the Guesthouse, accommodation will be simple but comfortable. The UPA Guesthouse can accommodate 18 persons at any given time. Volunteers will cook their own meals using gas. A small fridge is available to keep food. But remember that electricity in Uganda is unreliable. The boys room is separate from that of the girls and there is a caretaker to do the general cleaning of the house at specific times. Other minor Guesthouse utensils cleaning, the volunteers are expected to do for themselves. You have to do your own laundry by hand or in case of need may be done by the caretaker at a mutually agreed fee. There is a shared kitchen where you can make your meals and there is one shower, a toilet and a pit latrine.

From UPA Guesthouse/Nansana to Uganda Martyrs Hospital Lubaga, it is 9 km and it costs 4000 Ugandan shillings (one way) by public means.The project is in Kampala and there is a lot of leisure activities that a volunteer can engage in depending on their interest.

TRAVAIL

With this project, SJ Vietnam helps university and college students to improve their speaking/oral skills by interacting with foreign volunteers, and helps them to open their mind by learn from different cultures. Our international volunteers have a real impact, and encourage Vietnamese students to pursue their dreams and to participate in the development of Vietnam (through tourism and business, and the development of a qualified Vietnamese workforce). Mangrove for Java is a project targeting endangers villages or area located in coastal cities and regencies in Java Island. This project is a sustainable project organized by GREAT in cooperation with local fisher and farmer communities since 2015 to answering the needs of preserving the coastal side of Java Island. Java coastal area is one of the directed affected by global climate change among many of islands in the world. The project is preserving natural diversity and sea shore from the erosion because of significantly mangrove cutting in the 70aeuros-80s along with strong waves from the ocean. This project is dedicated to support the Global Voluntary Service to Stop Cilmate Change initiated by NICE, NVDA and CCIVS. During the months of July – September 2018, SCC projects will take place and enrich the activities of Mangrove for Java. Sayap Sehat is a Moslem Children Care established in 2000. GREAT has been working together since 2015. They serves the function as a place to live in for the children as well as to support their formal education. There are 60 children registered, 8 children live in the Children Care and 52 do stay with their families/relatives around the region. The Children Care also supports them with non-formal education/ few courses after school in daily basis for those living in the Children Care and periodically (monthly and sometimes two weekly) to those 52 who do not live in the Children Care.

Legal Resources Centre in Gender Equality and Human Rights (LRC-KJHAM) is an NGO working on promotion of human rights and gender equality in Semarang, Central Java. It founded in 1999 and currently working on strengthening access and control of Marginal Women in Central Java for Law and Human Rights Resource; Feminism Participatory Action Research (FPAR); Womenaeuros Right Impact Assessment (WRIA); and legal support for domestic violence and mentoring victim group.

TRAVAIL

Volunteers are expected to have strong self-initiative and self-motivation to decide their own set of activities fit to their skills, interest, and experience. The staff LRC-KJHAM will supervise and volunteer decides in which division they can fit in. Some possible activities:1.Supportinformation technology (IT) division,2.Collect news on human rights related topic from newspaper,3.Support with the documentation4.Support with the public relation5.Work together with other LRC-KJHAM staff for FPAR in some regencies and rural areas. Volunteers might need to experience live-in in the community for some days;6.Share and support on Woman Rights Impact Assessment WRIA7.Support and join training and seminar held by LRC-KJHAM.Note: 25 to 40 hours/week. Pekalongan is the city near Semarang, two hours by bus or one half hour by train to the west side. This project site consists of 2 different project areas with 2 different characters.Pasirsari. The children in Pasirsari are interested in additional education after school. Volunteering activity can use a public learning center house in Pasirsari.Bugisan. The children in Bugisan are more interested in art, drawing, and handicraft things, and normally they love to do the activity near the street. Volunteering activity can use a public learning spot near by the area or outdoor activities.
