This project is actively working for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDGs 15 (Life on Land), organized together with a local environmental NPO, Akame no SATOYAMA wo Sodateru Kai (ASSK) since 1999. Since this area is close from big cities Osaka and Nagoya, there were plans to build a golf field and an incinerator, but local people stopped those plans by the movement called National Trust. They founded the group in 1996 to collect donations to buy and protect lands, to accept people who want to enjoy nature, to maintain forests, to create a pond for dragonflies, to host national corps meeting, etc. SATOYAMA needs to be maintained by humans for its biodiversity and water adjustment function. Our ancestors had protected and utilized the forest in ecological and sustainable way, which was neglected by modernization. We will try to revive it by global voluntary power
TRAVAIL
Volunteers will do various types of activities such as 1) Forest conservation (cutting trees, branches and maintaining the footpaths, etc.), 2) Agricultural work (taking care of the chickens raised by the free range farming, slaughtering too old chickens (), harvesting and packaging mushrooms, etc.) and 3) Organizing some environmental events (e.g., to collect edible wild plants, nature observation) in the mountains. : It s hard for ASSK to keep feeding too old chickens since they don t bear the eggs anymore and feeding is quite costly. Most chicken farms ask the special company to just kill and throw away as if they are rubbish with paying 15 yen per chicken, but ASSK ds not support this and eats by themselves with deeply appreciating to their value of life.

Hiiumaa, according to the Nordic sagas, emerged from the Baltic Sea as a small islet more than 10 000 years ago. The island of Hiiumaa was first mentioned in historical documents as a deserted island called Dageida in 1228. The first inhabitants settled down at the end of the 13th century. Nowadays, Hiiumaa is the second biggest island of Estonia with an area of 965 sq. km and a population of around 9 000. It has many historical and nature sights, and there are kind people known for their hospitality and good sense of humor. The island is referred to as a remote area of Europe, and EstYES feels particularly proud developing international voluntary projects for over twenty years there. EstYES has been cooperating with eco-farms all over Estonia for solidarity and practical support to local people who work in the agricultural sector keeping traditional lifestyle and developing new eco-farming despite all difficulties. Alliksaare Farm on Hiiumaa Island is one of such projects. This is an organic farm promoting sustainable lifestyle, and this camp is proposed for volunteers who appreciate and share its values, want to learn more about it and to help hard working people. Alliksaare Farm breeds an endangered breed of horses called Estonian Native horse. This is their main focus. Also Alliksaare Farm has an important task taking care of coastal meadows which are international birds migration area under protection of NATURA Program. Video of past camp https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEAc2Sch6f8
TRAVAIL
Alliksaare Farm s main direction is horse breeding. At the moment there are around 150 horses on the farm. The work can be diverse: it is to take care and maintain the pastures located by the sea – clearing around the pastures, building or removing fences, repairing fences, cleaning the stable. Another work is cleaning the coast nearby the farm from rubbish brought by storms. There can be some work for preparing food for horses for a winter time. However the major and the most important one is work with horses directly – taking care and training them. There are horses of any age but mostly young ones, so depending on your experience and willingness to learn more, it is possible to practice taking care of and training young horses. For example socializing and training foals, halter train yearlings and saddle and/or carriage train young horses. The work will be mainly outdoors. Working time is 6-7 hours a day. Work will be done under some supervision and guidance of the local host but mostly independently. During summer months, in addition to mid-term volunteers there will be more volunteers coming for a period of 4 weeks.

A century ago, Yenping Street was the downtown with prosperity, but nowadays, as business gradually declined, the residents moved away from Xiluo and Yenping Street have become quieter. As a result, many houses have started to decay. At the same time, we are committed to promoting the art of sculpture and reserve more than 40 pieces of public art for Xiluo. They are arranged at the head of the Grand Xiluo Bridge and the Sculpture Park. This project is organized for local children by The Language School In Down-Town and the non-profit educational association Alternative Language Programs Satellite (ALPS) as part of their annual activities on multicultural issues for youth. Some international teenage participants will join it too. The common project s aim is to introduce the diversity of world cultures to children and provide them with good practices in intercultural communication using the learning-by-doing method and organizing alternative English language practice. The project gets youngsters familiar with customs and traditions of the countries from all over the world and encourages them to develop their cross-cultural thinking and tolerance as well as global thinking and individual initiative. This summer we offer you to participate in our project called KALEIDOSCOPE . We invite camp participants to discuss ideas of chaos and order, mess and harmony. Together, we will discover our own infinite potential and freedom to create new patterns of life, same way as we create patterns out of random single pieces of colourful glass twisting a kaleidoscope. We will learn how to find harmony in apparent disorder and use chaos as a tool for stress relief, how to turn imperfection into the source of true beauty and embrace uncertainty to make our life journey more successful, unique and vibrant. Camp participants will gain ideas and skills how to deal with millions of combinations of the world s reality. Meetings with local and/or international professionals in the field will take place. Thematic photo and video contests for camp participants will be organized.
TRAVAIL
All summer camps are held under one common theme, though every camp shift has its own focus within which everyday activities for youngsters are organized. Each day of the camp program has a special topic to be discussed and a related activity to work out the outcome. There is also a creative and interactive presentation of a country-participant every day to introduce general and interesting facts about the country as well as cultural customs and national traditions to schoolchildren. The standard number of days in a shift is 7 plus 1 optional Saturday. Every camp is thoroughly documented. The related activities to support topic discussions and country presentations are as follows: various intellectual and sport games for youngsters, creative team projects like posters and sculptures or board-games, pieces of amateur drama or other types of performances, excursions and workshops, playing the games and music popular in the countries the volunteers represent, teaching their songs or folk dances, etc.Every shift has an option for different ages from 10 to 16 years old. All of them are day camps that are held in Tallinn. The working language is English. A number of volunteers working with schoolchildren in one camp may vary from 2 to 8 (both long-term volunteers for the whole summer and short-term volunteers who may join for 2 or 4 weeks); they work in pairs with one of the camp groups of 10-12 teens and change the groups every 2-3 days. Based on the previous year, we expect a number of kids/teens participants in one camp shift as up to 40 split into 2-4 camp groups; the local participants are mainly youngsters from minority groups of Tallinn whose family s languages include Russian.Based on described above, the work and duties of the volunteer include the following: prepare and facilitate topic discussions and camp activities for smaller teams of youngsters as well as larger all-camp events, support and lead youngsters in their work on team projects; help the youngsters and other volunteers in their performances and country presentations; assist the program leader implementing camp activities and trainings for other volunteers; work on the documenting camp events and support the local staff in their work with an international team of volunteers i organizing folders with working materials, making on-line reports and advert, making analysis, compiling the camp albums and leaflets, providing feedback. Based on the shifts, other work will include taking turn in assisting with catering and taking care of other volunteers, staying on overnight securing the international teenagers who are accommodated at school and accommodation site access, managing their arrivals and departures as well as their access to the building after outside camp activities, etc. The work can be intense sometimes, involving long working hours on some days, requiring high commitment and responsibility for the camp program. This project is organized for local children by The Language School In Down-Town and the non-profit educational association Alternative Language Programs Satellite (ALPS) as part of their annual activities on multicultural issues for youth. Some international teenage participants may randomly join. Thematic photo and video contests for camp participants will be organized.NB It is possible and you are welcome to apply for 2 shifts in a row EST DT1 EST DT2 or EST DT3 EST DT4
