The Emmaus Community of Villafranca is part of the global Emmaus Movement, which aims to combat poverty and social exclusion through the principles of work, sharing, and mutual aid. The Emmaus Community of Villafranca di Verona was founded in 1985, following a work camp organised in Villafranca in which young Italians and Europeans took part. Due to the success of the camp, the Municipality made available a former school. From the beginning, a group of friends was formed around the community, with whom Emmaus organised (and still organises) moments of deepening on the themes of solidarity, peace, non-violence… The role of this group of friends has been fundamental in the life of the Community and in making Emmaus known and appreciated in Villafranca. And if today so many people understand and support our community, it is thanks to the work and presence of these friends. The main objective of Emmaus is the reception of people in need, carrying out activities such as the collection, reuse and recycling of used materials with display at the Solidarity Flea Market. Zero Mileage Garden: organic vegetable growing. Care and maintenance of the community s green spaces. Spending the day (activities and free time) with the people hosted on the site.
TRAVAIL

Volunteers will take an active part in the organisation of the solidarity flea market, in the selection of materials and their placement at the market, they will be able to take part in the organisation of our organic zero-mileage vegetable garden and they will be able to try their hand at cooking. For those who are interested in salvaging and restyling, there will be opportunities to help with the improvement of the spaces (gardening, painting, space recovery, etc.).
LOGEMENT & NOURRITURE
Volunteers will sleep in the community hall where mattresses and/or camp beds will be provided. There is a shaded garden where volunteers can spend time. There are toilets, showers, hot and drinking water and electricity. Food is prepared by the community workers, but volunteers can help with meal preparation and washing up.

According to the Nordic sagas Hiiumaa emerged from the Baltic Sea as a small islet more than 10 000 years ago. The island of Hiiumaa was first mentioned in historical documents as a deserted island called Dageida in 1228. The first inhabitants settled down at the end of the 13th century. ViE(ey or Wood Island is the largest (1.7 kmI) island in the KollafjErE(ur Bay, just outside ReykjavEk, the capital of Iceland. The island is covered by many species of plants and at least 30 species of breeding birds have been counted here. ViE(ey was inhabited soon after the settlement of Iceland in the 10th century. In the beginning of the 20th century, around 100 people lived there. Today the island is uninhabited. There is a regular ferry connection between the island and the harbour of ReykjavEk. The island is only a few hundred metres away from the city and the trip takes a few minutes. This makes ViE(ey so special; it is a peaceful place, very close to the busy city life of the capital. There are hiking and cycling paths around the island and there is no motor traffic allowed. It also features intriguing sculptural artwork, amongst them all nine pairs of basalt pillars that comprise Richard Serras work Efangar and Yoko Onos Imagine Peace column, a tower of light, which is supported by the widow of John Lennon. ProjectFor a decade EstYES promotes camps where parents and children can participate together. The idea is to create a kind of temporary community where adults and children can share ideas of voluntary activity for the benefit of rural area. Camp schedule allows adults to act as volunteers like in any other voluntary camp working 4-5 hours a day for practical tasks. Meanwhile children work as well, in the sense that they take part in the activities helping parents and sharing easy tasks with them. Local hosts supported by parents care about the children during the working activities, providing snacks, proposing games and activities, etc. In the daily free time and during days off group excursions and other activities will be organised by the local hosts. Parents can join the camp in pair or alone with their children. Some English is necessary for parents in order to communicate among them and with the campleader. The camp follows a positive experience of almost 20 years VenueIt is a very long tradition for EstYES to organize international workcamps in co-operation with Kiidi Farm located in the Voru County in the South of Estonia. With the support of the state and local authorities the eco- and farm sustainable tourism has been developed in this area. Besides promoting the environmental tourism, this initiative supports rural development, which is an important issue for Estonia. Estonian Association of Farm Tourism has launched several projects, and Kiidi Farm, where the camp takes place, is one of them. It is run by large Piho family with 8 kids, who were kids when we started our cooperation but are young adults of different age now. Nevertheless, they continue to contribute to the camp success. Volunteers will design and run an interactive theater performance and games specifically for the children of the Umoja Team, which includes refugee and migrant kids. The core theme is Fair Play. By learning to follow rules, cooperate, and handle victory or defeat with dignity, both children and volunteers will develop empathy, respect, and an appreciation for diversity. This approach encourages youth to reject racism and discrimination while promoting fairness and inclusion. The project is divided into two phases:Week 1 (Preparation and Education): Volunteers will get to know each other through theater games and meet the children at the football field to introduce the concept of fair play. During this week, volunteers will also research and share stories about racism in football and the rules of fair play to familiarize themselves with the topic.Final Week (Implementation): Volunteers will finalize the interactive performance, which will be showcased at the football field for the children, their friends, and parents. Using Forum Theatre methods, the audience will be invited to swap roles with the actors and change the course of the plot. This will be followed by an open discussion about personal experiences and ways to confront racism.

This is the nineteenth year (since 2008) that SEEDS organises a series of International Photography projects. In 2010 we also began offering these camps for teenagers. Throughout the year, participants from all over the world come to Iceland for an immersive photography-focused learning camp. SEEDS coordinators help participants to develop their unique photographic skills through workshops and feedback sessions on technical settings, compositional considerations, and creating conceptual frameworks that highlight each participants individual style.
TRAVAIL
Note that this is a learning/sharing camp and not a regular workcamp; this project has a smaller volunteer work part and emphasises the personal learning process over the community impact. We may be able to organise some outdoor voluntary work, but it depends on our partners and the weather conditions. Participants will have time to put the theory about photography into practice, exploring the city. At the end of the camp, the best photographs from each participant will be selected for an online exhibition on SEEDS social media. Participants should bring their own digital cameras, lenses, tripods, and laptops, if possible. While learning about photography, the participants have the opportunity to explore Icelandic culture through active participation: capturing it, engaging with it, and showcasing their work throughout the camp. One of our goals is to empower young people to use photography to highlight environmental and cultural subjects and issues.Participants should be ready to spend time outdoors walking medium to long distances during activities and working within a flexible schedule. Participants will be photographing in their free time outside of workshop hours with images to be discussed at group feedback sessions. This camp is open to participants aged 16 to 20. During their stay, SEEDS organises a programme that combines learning, sharing, getting to know Iceland and its culture, and having fun while exploring the city and some of the most stunning natural attractions in the Golden Circle and the Hot River hike excursions.
