ProjectThis project is organized for local children by The Language School In Down-Town and the non-profit educational association Alternative Language Programs Satellite (ALPS) as part of their annual activities on multicultural issues for youth. Some international teenage participants may join. The common project s aim is to introduce the diversity of world cultures to children and provide them with good practices in intercultural communication using the learning-by-doing method and organizing alternative English language practice. The project gets youngsters familiar with customs and traditions of the countries from all over the world and encourages them to develop their cross-cultural thinking and tolerance as well as global thinking and individual initiative. This summer we offer you to participate in our project called LANDSCAPES . We invite volunteers to support our camp participants learning about a new trend of ecosystems in nature, society, technologies, economy, politics and human relationships. Together, we plan to find out how these complex deeply interwoven ecosystems shape the way we live, learn and thrive, and what those competences are that empower humans to understand, navigate, and positively influence them. Camp participants will try to develop their strategies for a holistic, interconnected view of the world and gain ideas on how not just to survive in a complex world – but to help reshape it toward greater justice, sustainability, and flourishing for all life. Meetings with local and/or international professionals in the field will take place. Thematic photo and video contests for camp participants will be organized.NB It is possible and you are welcome to apply for 2 shifts in a row EST DT1 EST DT2 or EST DT3 EST DT4

TRAVAIL

Activating kids in the city camp and providing them with cross-cultural learning experience based on the theme of the year announced above. Volunteers will do it by using various informal methods of teaching as well as small group techniques. The activities to be held by a team of volunteers may include the following: playing the games and performing music that are popular in the countries the volunteers represent; training kids to perform pieces of amateur drama; preparing festivals; providing intellectual and sport games as well as discussions; preparing quests to combine with excursions round the places of interest; organizing actions for peace and nature; leading and supporting kids in their work on the team projects within the topics related to the main theme of the summer. Volunteers are responsible for the day activities in the camp. The work can be quite demanding, involving long working hours, requiring high level of commitment and responsibility. You will stay with campers from 10:00 to 17:00 (45-minute lunch is included) and spend about another hour to prepare and finalize next day activities and feedback. Working days are from Monday to Saturday; Sundays are days off except the one after arrival. The local participants are mainly youngsters from minority groups of Tallinn whose family s languages include Russian. Based on the previous year, we expect a number of kids/teens participants in one camp shift as up to 40. Volunteers will work in pairs facilitating and leading a smaller group of 10 – 12 children or less during the day and change the groups every 2-3 days. There are three main age groups: 6-9 years old, 10-13 years old and 14-16 years old.During the first three days of the workcamp after arrival, volunteers will be given a training on the camp methodology and some time to prepare themselves to meet the kids/teens on Monday and further carry out their tasks in the camp. For this reason, it is important to arrive on time.

Camps give foreign participants a great chance to meet youngsters both from Estonia and other countries as well as to experience local life. This summer we offer you to participate in our project called LANDSCAPES . We invite you to explore ecosystems that shape the way we live, learn and thrive in the domains of nature, society, technologies, economy, politics and human relationships. Together, we will try to develop working strategies for a holistic, interconnected view of the world such as seeing connections between parts of a whole, co-evolution or understanding unintended consequences. Camp participants will learn to build supportive peer networks and naturally integrate individual aims into existing ecosystems, manage change for alternative future and take initiative, influence synergetic loops and utilize personal progress for mutual sustained prosperity. We hope you will gain ideas on how not just to survive in a complex world of various ecosystems – but to help reshape it toward greater justice and flourishing life. Meetings with local and/or international professionals in the field will take place. Thematic photo and video contests for camp participants will be organized.

The Isola delle Femmine is a nature reserve established in 1997 by the Sicilian Region and managed by LIPU (Italian league for birds protection) since then. This little uninhabited island is located in a strategic place for the migration of a specific species of bird called Gabbiano reale (Larus michahellis), this area allows them to rest from migration and to grow numerically. The regular support received along the year is not sufficient for the maintenance needed, this is the reason why InformaGiovani with LIPU organize together every year volunteering projects to support the maintenance of the natural reserve and to sensitize the local community towards the place.

TRAVAIL

Work will be run on the little uninhabited island in the middle of the sea every morning. Volunteers will take a boat every day to join this place, therefore, it is compulsory to be able to swim for safety reasons Volunteers will support natural reserve s staff in: restoration of the flora (this action is part of over thirty-year plan put in practice by Lipu and volunteers) and maintenance of existing vegetation (watering plants), maintenance of the protected area (re-building stone paths) cleaning of the protected area from litter (the area is exposed to different marine streams that bring waste from the sea) cooking meals for the group in couple and following shifts other tasks. Work is manual and demands physical effort, it is also tiring due to hot temperature and Southern sun. In the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty (1891), it was renamed Wuqi Port, meaning the phoenix does not perch on places other than Wuqi, does not drink from springs other than the sacred spring, and does not eat bamboo .On December 25, 2010, Wuqi Township was upgraded to Wuqi District as part of the merger of Taichung County and City into a special municipality. Although the administrative area is not vast, it still has a deep cultural tourism potential, especially its rich cultural assets, such as local historical relics, historical buildings, and local folk culture, which are all worth seeing. In the past few years of its prosperous years, temples have also become ubiquitous buildings in Wuqi, reflecting the piety of the ancestors to religion and their expectations for life. When the northeast monsoon blows, local eels migrate, leading to a proliferation of seafood restaurants in Wuqi. These restaurants not only satisfy the palates of locals but also allow visitors to experience the daily life of this land.Aims:The coastal area of Taichung boasts numerous traditional buildings and is a region where population migration and folk activities flourish. The purpose of this activity is to understand the importance of preserving the environment of the port area and to learn about the historical buildings in the port area of Taichung City, such as the traditional houses in Wuqi Old Street. Participants will learn about traditional architecture and its reuse methods. Furthermore, this activity will allow participants to experience the local customs, industries, and lifestyle of Taichung Port.

Over the years, various government agencies have supported the development of coffee farming in Tuburan, culminating in its recognition as the coffee capital of Cebu. Presently, Tuburan Coffee sources beans from over 3,000 hectares of coffee small holdings spread across 29 barangays (villages), benefiting more than 2,000 local farmers from the town in the process. This initiative aimed to promote coffee farming as a more sustainable and lucrative livelihood for upland communities, offering an alternative to activities like charcoal production and firewood gathering, which have contributed significantly to deforestation.
