TRAVAIL

– Receive international volunteers/interns; see to it that they are appropriatelyplaced in one of VIN s empowerment projects.- Interview volunteers/interns and prepare them for their respective projects.- Oversee volunteer s/intern s placement in the rural areas and monasteries.- Support local and international volunteers with their roles.

Volunteers stay with the host family/hostel identified by VIN. The living conditions at the host family/ hostel are simple and basic. SinceNepal is in Himalayan region, it has been badly affected by the Climate Change The sourcesof water are drying; new types of moths / insects are in existence; the crop cultivation timechanged, unexpected change in climate, unpredictable rainfall, draughts etc. are the result ofglobal warming Nepalese farmersfacing.Permaculture uses small and slow solutions because they are easier to manage than biggersolutions and they allow for the use of local resourcesleading to more sustainable outcomes.While this may not always be feasible- sometimes we need big and fast solutions to solvesome of society s greatest problems- this principle can potentially be a valuable tool forproblem solving.

We will beworking until the reconstruction completesin our earthquake affectedcommunities. Our projects include WASH (Water Sanitation and Hygiene), RebuildingEarthquake Resistant Infrastructure (RERI), Earthquake Resistant Home ConstructionEducation (REECH), and Entrepreneurship Building. We will be working under differentphases simultaneously.

TRAVAIL

Help local people construct temporary houses and toilets.- Reconstruction and renovation of the old buildings, houses, schools, classroomsandpublic properties.- Reconstruct and renovate temples and cultural heritage sites.- Renovate, reconstruct and improve the irrigation channel, drinking water supply, roads,schools, houses or any public or private properties.

LOGEMENT & NOURRITURE

Volunteers stay with the host family/hostel identified by VIN. The living conditions at the host family/ hostel are simple and basic. Male and female volunteers will share the same living area but have separate sleeping rooms. The volunteers sleep on simple beds/mattresses. Please bring your sleeping bag. The food will be provided in Nepali standard i.e. dal Bhat (rice, lentil soup, vegetables, pickle, eggs).

SITUATION

VIN works in three different districts Kathmandu, Nuwakot, and Okhaldhunga are the three districts where VIN works. If you arrive early or wish to stay in Nepal after your volunteer period, VIN offers weekend travel tours to Chitwan Jungle Safari, Pokhara, and Nagarkot at reasonable prices.
