Veraldarvinir, Worldwide Friends (WF), was founded in 2001 as a non-profit organisation promoting nature and peace oriented activities for volunteers wanting to spend some time in Iceland. We also send local volunteers intending to have similar experiences abroad. WF aims at promoting active participation of people and its mobility, intercultural learning and voluntary service, through non-formal educational activities. The main activities offered are workcamps, seminars, local events and exchange programmes suitable both for young people and adults. WF is a non-profit organisation with international scope.

TRAVAIL

: The workcamp leaders will work as a team under the supervision of the project manager of the organization. They will be involved in preparing, organizing, running and evaluating nature-oriented, agricultural and environmental protection projects in Iceland. Those projects are organized with international volunteers and usually last for 2 weeks. In each group there are one or two leaders from the organization. At the beginning of the stay here, they will receive qualified training from the organisation members. This training will capacitate them to perform the projectsI activities, which vary between cleaning beaches, planting trees and different kinds of environmental-related tasks to taking care of environmental awareness campaigns. At the same time, will receive guidance in how to plan, organize and lead the projects, including topics as group management, conflict resolution, bookkeeping, development, leader roles, intercultural cooperation, motivation, etc. They will also receive practical information about planning a project, spare time activities, first aid, etc.At the end of each camp the project coordinator will be expected to produce an evaluation of the projects and their results. : Our primary activity is organizing environmental-related projects where people coming from different countries perform voluntary work. In organizing them, much emphasis has been put on making sure the volunteers see that their work is important, they help a community in need, or they work for the protection of the environment. In the meantime, they themselves form a community and get in close contact with locals as well as with other participants of the project from different cultures and nationalities. They find out about each other s habits and ways of life, also getting an insight to the problems of the area and its inhabitants

LOGEMENT & NOURRITURE

The leaders will share a double room in a house offering basic facilities. Beds are provided, however volunteers should bring their own warm sleeping bags. Food is provided in the restaurant of the Health clinic, There is internet connection available in all houses.

SITUATION

They will also have the opportunity to visit one or two projects in another area of IcelandHveragerE(i is a small town of about 1,700 inhabitants that lies some 45 km east of ReykjavEk. This friendly little community sits on top of a highly active geothermal field, which provides heat for hundreds of greenhouses where fruit, flowers and vegetables are produced throughout the year. Even bananas grow in these greenhouses The name HveragerE(i means hot springs garden. Geothermal energy is HveragerE(is lifeblood, and you probably wont find such a natural wonder in the middle of a populated area anywhere else in the world. Nearby you will find an even more geothermally active site: Gufudalur, the lovely Steam Valley behind the town. This whole valley is full of hot springs, geysers, mud pots, fumaroles and steaming vents. Our host is the Rehabilitation and Health Clinic, which is a part of the Natural Health Association of Iceland. Every year approximately 2,000 patients and other guests enjoy their diverse rehabilitation programs, which are focused on an approach that builds self-confidence and personal responsibility for the patients own health. TRAVAIL

: Children are not just little adults. They go through typical stages of growthintellectually, emotionally, and sociallyon their way to becoming adults. Sometimes we may think that children are too young to understand a gospel principle or that we really don t have much influence with our older children.Developing a child s personality is an essential element in today s competitive world. A developed personality is definitely a key to success. Though developing personality in children is a slow and steady process, it enhances their confidence in future.Developing a child s personality holds a great importance, as it brings a lot more changes in the way the child behaves, deals or accepts a situation, or life itself. And then who as a parent would like to see lot of personality traits in a child. A child with a developed personality can stay socially viable, will be able to impress his audience, interact better, handle situations with great ease, have a positive approach towards each and every situation in life, and handle stress better. In the present context in Nepal, the school and family focus on getting good marks in exams. However, it is not focused on exploring the hidden talents of children and develop them for future. Children have less opportunities for those. This project aims to dig out the hidden talents and develop different skills so that they can perform better in the future. Objective:-To dig out child s hidden talents, boost their confidence and improve their communication skills and language.-To develop the ability to enhance one s scope of knowledge by widening the boundaries and few hobbies or brushing of particular skills -To help child get over from any of his/her weaknesses and bring a positive attitude in the child s way of thinking and living.Work and activities:-Prepare and conduct the research to dig out child s hidden talents and interest. -Organize sessions of different life skills like communication, public speaking, leadership and so on. -Prepare and implement different sessions and activities to improve children s ability.

This camp has different kind of tasks. Some days we will focus on renovation, painting, cleaning and fixing things around and inside the house. We will also do some artwork for example paintings and sculptures made of driftwood. Other days we will clean the coastline and plant trees in the area. We will give a special focus on global warming and the volunteers will have workshops about climate changes. The issue of global warming is well known all over the world. Humanity must act in a more environmentally friendly way. The main goal of this project is to improve the environmental education and consciousness of the projects participants. Within the project we will learn about green energy, sustainable householding, waste treatment, nutrition, the effects of consumption and lots more. If you want to change something, develop solutions, or inspire others, you have to understand the issues and tasks first.
